ABOUT US

Jib is an art and design collective co-founded in 2022 by Kathleen and David Bly. We make materially focused sculpture, lighting, and furniture. We work with interior designers and private collectors to create custom pieces for projects of all scales.

Everything is meticulously made by us in our Ybor City studio. We work primarily with wood, and turn many of our pieces green - while the wood is still wet - so that the shape continues to change as it dries after our intervention. This feels like a true collaboration. We have a deep respect for material and aim to work in a zero waste capacity - making use of discards for dying fabric, and in garden compost. We work with both high and low tech processes to bring our highly touchable pieces to life. We are interested in the interaction between the work we make and the inhabitants of a space and seek to ground people and interior spaces through thoughtful, detail oriented design, and rich materiality.

BIO

Kathleen and David met as undergraduates, and often collaborated while pursuing BFA degrees. David went on to receive a Masters in Architecture. After a decade away, working in photography and architecture in NYC and Hawaii, they moved back to Florida and began Jib to develop work that operates in the space between these disciplines. The Florida landscape has long been a source of inspiration and their sculptural work explores connection to time and place through material. They live with their two young children in Florida.
